Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,....
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25 : 34 -40

welcome to cornerstone
Cornerstone is an Independent Fostering and Post Adoption Support Agency operating in England from Leicester up to Newcastle. We are also expanding into Scotland where we operate as Foundations Matter. We are the only Christian Evangelical Fostering Agency in the UK. From our staff to our carers, board and trustees, everyone in Cornerstone is motivated by their faith. We believe fostering is a way to respond to the biblical mandate from God to care for vulnerable children. You can read more of our history here.
Cornerstone offers a variety of placement opportunities including Short-term, Long-term, Respite and Emergency Placements, Foster with a view to Adopt (Early Permanence), Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Minors, Parent and Child placements and Shared Care. Spurred on by our faith, we have specialised in taking in children whom the system has failed by taking long to find homes for them. You can read more about the types of fostering here. Cornerstone carers have a long-term commitment to loving for the children in their care. This has meant that where it was appropriate, several foster placements have turned into adoptions. Cornerstone has facilitated the transition to adoption for around 70 per cent of the children it has placed, even though this cuts off the funding which it receives for the foster placement. To us the best interests of the child is key. There have been no adoption breakdowns during the 20+ years history of the organisation. This is a testament to the passion, commitment, and excellence our staff and carers have. Read more about what it's like to foster with us here. |

WHY CHOOSE CORNERSTONE?
Faith-holding foster carers make up a large percentage of foster carers but despite this, they don't always feel that their faith is respected, understood, supported or welcome. As a Christian Agency, Cornerstone provides a welcome and supportive environment for Christian Foster Carers. This is because we know that caring for the vulnerable is an integral part of the expression of our faith. In addition to the biblical mandate, Christian values align with the values and mindset needed for successful fostering. We are recipients of God's grace and love and so we in turn share our love with others, opening up our families as God opened up His family to welcome us as children. We know that Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7). And these very characteristics of love have contributed to the success of our foster placements. From staff to trustees, panel members and foster carers, we are all motivated and empowered by our faith. We pray for our carers and build a strong and supportive community through things like the Cornerstone holiday. The Cornerstone Holiday provides an opportunity for our families to gather together, have fun and celebrate their joys and encourage each other.
what's NEW IN CORNERSTONE?
At Cornerstone we understand how important support is for our families and individuals who foster. We know that the whole church is called to care for vulnerable children and to support each other in our callings.
Here are some resources we love that are designed to help us understand how the church can care for and support families with care experienced children. You can download the reports using these links. |
Every day we receive a minimum of 60 referal requests from local authorities looking to find a home for children who need to be fostered. On some days we've had up to 100 requests. There is a very real need for more people to step into fostering. Will you be the reason we can say "yes" to more of these requests?
