Cornerstone Service Support, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of services for children and young adults, is to open two new purpose designed disability and respite care resources this Spring.
Part of a major investment programme, the two new residential facilities in Southampton will provide and an additional 7,000 days per year of residential and/or respite care for children and young adults with complex needs, severe disabilities, ABI and associated behaviours.
In addition, Cornerstone will create over 40 new jobs for professional carers.
Both resources have been purpose built and adapted to meet the needs of children and young adults, who may need wheelchairs and specialist equipment to access their daily living. They will also provide 24/7 support whilst promoting, encouraging and enabling the child/ young adult to maximize their life experiences.
The investment adds to the facilities social service departments and health and education authorities can call upon across the south of England.
“We’re delighted to be opening two brand new facilities to enhance our existing services. Our new respite facility will complement our existing out reach work with families, giving service purchasers greater choice and a continuum of care,” said Cornerstone Managing Director, Norman Cahill.
"The two facilities have been carefully selected in terms of location for local amenities and facilities. Shops, hospitals, country parks, leisure facilities, play zones, libraries, sports and swimming pools are all within easy reach," said Cornerstone Director of Care, Margaret Hanney.
In addition to residential resources, Cornerstone also provides respite care, single placements 24-hour support within the family home, outreach support staff, escorts, qualified Social Workers and social work assistants.
